York’s Restaurant Week 2024 is just around the corner, beginning 14 October. This is an incredible opportunity for students to experience the vibrant food scene that York offers, whilst taking full advantage of the discounts that will be soon available. With over 100 restaurants participating, this list features some of the best-value offers based on quality, experience and affordability.

Out of the dozens of deals, a few in particular stand out, starting with a student hotspot - Dusk. For just £20, they offer a full New York Pizza Pie, a small portion of fries and 2-4-1 cocktails, if you're interested in a more budget-friendly meal you can opt for their cheaper offer with Garlic bread and a pint being only £5. Their cocktails menu is particularly intriguing, featuring unique options such as the Milky Bar Kid (Baileys, Frangelico, Kahhia, Milk) to Graham Norton (Vodka, Peach Schnapps, Cranberry Juice). Cocoa Joe’s, in stark contrast but equally as appealing, offers quality hot chocolate and a 50g bag of chocolate buttons for only £5 - perhaps the biggest bargain, providing a warmth appropriate for the incoming colder months.

Moving onto some personal favourites that won’t disappoint, York’s very own Clucking Oinks, located in the town centre on Castlegate and at SPARK, offers a Chicken Burger and Fries for £15. Although this sports a higher price tag, a burger and fries here usually cost over £20, so take advantage of this price reduction while it lasts! Coming in with a similar deal, The Taylor Made Kitchen offers a Burger or Burrito with fries, but for only £10. Alternatively, two Small Loaded Fries and two Soft Drinks for £15. Their loaded fries sound divine, with various options such as Katsu Curry or Buffalo Chicken.

For vegans and vegetarians, Ambiente Tapas is a fantastic choice. Three Tapas dishes for only £15. The food alone justifies its original price, and the homely atmosphere and quality cuisine make this an offer to not pass up on. From Croquetas and Calamares to Patatas Bravas and Empanadas Veganas there is no shortage of choice. Finally, there’s a new player on the field in 2024, Poly’s Kitchen based in Polymath offers eight Chicken Wings or five Tenders for just £5, or if you’re in the mood for more try the Munchie Sharing Board for £30 (consisting of two burgers, wings, fries and mac and cheese).

York’s Restaurant Week 2024 is an unmissable event for food lovers of all tastes and budgets. Whether you're looking to indulge in something new or revisit local favourites, the incredible deals across the city make it the perfect time to explore York’s diverse culinary scene. So, mark your calendars, grab your friends, and take advantage of these limited-time offers.
