SPARK:York is set to host its relaunch ‘Raise The Roof’ party in celebration of the venue's reopening, following its summer makeover.

The relaunch weekend kicks off on Friday 12 April and will span over three days, carrying on until Sunday 14 April.

During the makeover, SPARK saw the removal of the canvas rooftop and the introduction of an array of electric disco decorations. To celebrate SPARK’s new look, the venue will be hosting a variety of events designed to engage guests of all ages.

Commencing at 5 pm on Friday 12 April, guests will be welcomed and able to participate in events including fitness classes led by the in-house Ossie Studio, magic performances by Magic Adam, and a complimentary face painting session with Face Paint York. Attendees will also have the opportunity to partake in creating an art installation guided by the resident Art Group Studios and groove to the beats at two silent discos experienced through headphones.

Saturday 13 April will be filled with circus activities presented by the students of York Circus Society, personalised caricature art, a vintage clothing pop-up by the ex-trader Garba Sutra, and sweet treats from Doe Bakehouse, who will be extending their stay until Sunday. Additionally, a lively games room will be available for all to enjoy, with ping pong, board games and plenty more to get involved with.

Sunday 14 April, the third and final day of the event will offer a relaxing atmosphere with free hair braiding by long-time collaborator Braids by Olivia, as well as enlightening tarot readings from Miss Trout, a former tenant of our very own Power & Peace Therapies.

The celebration also serves as an opportunity for SPARK to spotlight the independent businesses, partners and initiatives that call it home. The venue hosts nine street food vendors, including the recent addition of Southeast Pan-Asian Knori, a coffee shop, a holistic therapies studio, a beauty salon, an indoor vertical farm, co-working and meeting spaces, and art studios housing six resident artists.

Emily Youngson, Events Coordinator at SPARK: York stated: “We are thrilled to announce our upcoming Raise the Roof festival, which promises to be an electrifying celebration of local spirit! SPARK would not be what it is without the support of the incredible community which enables us to thrive all year round.

With an abundance of delicious food, unique pop-ups and creative activities, Raise the Roof aims to bring the people of York together for an unforgettable weekend as we come together to celebrate, indulge, and showcase what makes SPARK, SPARK”.
