Pleats are back in force this year to carry us through the end of the winter months to summer with a spring in our step.
A favourite with ‘A list’ celebrities on the red carpet already, pleats are set to take over this year. Marchesa – another favourite with the red carpet – showcases a new Spring/Summer 2011 collection showing the versatility of the classic style. Their beautifully glamorous dresses contrast with Issey Miyake’s modern take on pleated tops, whilst Chloe shows the classic pleated skirt.
On the high street American Apparel have a constant supply of pleats involved in their inventive styles, from black swan esque ballet dresses and tutus, to summery striped cotton skirts. Whistles also have also brought out an elegant version of Chloe’s long, pleated skirt (shown above) this week in a bubblegum pink that would complete any wardrobe this Spring. Similarly to Issey Miyake’s modern twist, Topshop have also brought out a pair of cream, pleated shorts so anyone can re-create the new trend of pleats for only £34.
