Roses 2015 Preview: Rugby League

The fixture will be the Raiders’ second ever match, and their first gave them reason to think that they can be competitive against the Lancaster Lynx

How have the club done this year?

We are totally brand new and only just played our first friendly game on Wednesday.

What are you expecting from Lancaster?

We have some good players and expect for a new side to give the more seasoned Lancaster a side a run for their money.

Which individual players could stand out?

Well I would like to put myself as full-back and captain but that would be a little big headed. I would say Hugo Reid one of our Prop forwards, who is new to league and Ben Bishop our hooker and a pivotal play maker.

Why should people come and watch Rugby League?

It’s one of the fittest, fastest contact sports in the world, massive in the North of England and it’s our debut appearance at Roses. We have big tackles, tight shirts and lots of tries.

Nouse Verdict: It may be too early for the Raiders to earn a victory against a more experienced Lancaster Lynx side, but if they can sustain some early promise and stay defensively disciplined, they will give Lancaster a good game
