Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2014: The Highlights

The Angels descend upon London for the first time – with spectacular results

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is a well-known spectacle in the fashion world. This year the unmissable event – a blend of fashion, fantasy and entertainment – came to London for the first time. The Angels certainly took the UK by storm and, just in case you missed it, here are the highlights of the 2014 show!

In an opening section like no other, the Angels took to the runway in an array of ‘gold drenched couture’. Behati Prinsloo opened the show with an incredible entrance, more than earning her impressive set of wings and setting the bar sky-high for the next forty-six Angels to follow.

University of Pink

The Angels brought the campus spirit to the University of Pink section of the show! Whilst being far from ‘appropriate’ attire on campus, the Angels showed off a little less skin and broke up the hardcore glamour with a bit of PINK fun. Victoria’s Secret fledgling Monkia Jagaciak stood out in a blue and pink ombre raincoat, complete with a variety of animal prints – perfect for those rainy days on campus, right?

The Fantasy Bra

Perhaps one of the most anticipated moments of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is the reveal of the fantasy bra, and this year fans were not disappointed with not one but TWO bras on show. All eyes were on established Angels Adriana Lima, in a blue topaz bra, and Alessandra Ambrosio, donning thousands of red garnets, as they arrived on the catwalk. Designed exclusively for the show by world-renowned jeweler Mouawad the bras each contain over 16,000 gems set in 18 karat yellow gold and took 1,380 hours to make! Costing an eye-watering $2,000,000 each the bras are one-of-a-kind, but perhaps a little pricey on a student budget…

Fairy Tale

‘Tis the season to release your inner fairy – the Angels slipped into a cool range of subtle hues, perfect for the Christmas season! Candice Swanepoel was the first onto the runway and left the crowd breathless with her ethereal flower fairy chic, whilst Barbara Palvin wowed with her autumnal butterfly look. With more glitter and wings than any other segment of the show, it was impossible not to stare as the Angels flew down the runway!

The Runway

The Victoria’s Secret show set never ceases to amaze, but this year the high tech LED-runway truly made the show ‘pop’. From golden flames of fire in the Gilded Angels opening, to love hearts and graffiti stars in the PINK segment, this cinematic showstopper took the runway to a whole new level. The chicest light show of all came in the finale when the entire catwalk transformed into an enormous chess board. The Angels, all dressed in either glamorous black or delicate white lace designs, certainly brought the runway, and the game, to life!
