Love is in the air. As it is every February and will be for every February to come. For me, Valentine’s Day is be about treating yourself; everyone else can have you the other 364 days of the year. So this month’s hotlist is about spoiling yourself for the benefit of others (whether there be a special someone who needs you on the 14th, or not). As for me, you’ll find me in the ice cream section of the supermarket in my new cashmere socks.
Cashmere socks, BRORA £24
People often seem to underestimate how important it is to keep your feet happy. And there’s no better place to go than Brora for the softest cashmere. Yes it is a little pricey for socks, but trust me once you slip these babies on you won’t look back. Oh and did I mention, they’re on sale at the moment…
Lace bra, MONKI £10
For me, nothing is sexier than a lacy black triangle bra. Showing just a little more skin than your average bra; this one from Monki is cheap but oh so cheerful. Wear it on a day when your hangover threatens to confine you to your bed, and it’ll have you up and about in no time.
Red lipstick, MAC £15
MAC has long been said to make the best lipsticks around. Their shade of red called Ruby Woo is the insiders go to for that perfect pout. Easily worn if you’re staying in or going out, if you’re kissing an ice cream spoon or someone else. And in the shade of lurve, it might be too perfect.
Knitted jumper, AMERICAN APPAREL £66
The only thing you need for those evenings in is the comfiest knit in the coolest colour. And would you look how well it matches those cashmere socks, a perfect pair. Buy from the men’s department for extra coziness. A word of warning, don’t let your man steal it because you might just never get it back.
Chelsea boots, NEXT £32
Navigate your way through the rainiest of days in these leather Chelsea boots. At the perfect height sitting just on the ankle, pair with skinny black jeans and a knitted jumper for the ultimate (I-didn’t-try-too-hard) date outfit. And the best part, they’re flat, so you can dance the night away.
Hand cream, & OTHER STORIES £7
All that hand holding (or spoon clutching) requires the softest of hands and the beauty section of & Other Stories is unrivalled. Their hand cream is incredible. Not only does it smell delicious but also leaves your hands silky smooth, not greasy.
Clutch AMERICAN APPAREL £34
This little leather pouch is the only accessory you’ll need this month. The perfect size for all the essentials, and it comes in every colour of the rainbow so has the ability to perfectly compliment any outfit. Go on, treat yourself. Why not buy one in all the colours! It is the month of love after all.
