North Yorkshire Police released a statement today appealing for the public’s help after a student in York was officially reported missing earlier this morning.

Megan Roberts, who is a 20-year-old student at York St John University, was reported missing today at 8:30am by her mother after concerns were raised by Megan’s friends.

She was last seen in the early hours of Thursday morning in Popworld on George Hudson Street after a night out with friends on Wednesday evening. Nobody has heard from her since, which is seen as very out of character and police are very concerned for her safety.

She is described as being around 5ft 6in tall with a medium build and long brown hair. She was last seen wearing a cream dress with large brown and orange flowers on, along with black plimsoll shoes.

The police are urging anyone who has seen Megan since 2am on Thursday morning, or knows where she is, to contact them immediately. They are also appealing to Megan to get in touch with her friends as soon as she can.

Anyone with information can contact North Yorkshire Police on the non-emergency number 101, selecting option 1 so information can be passed on to the Force Control Room.

  1. Pretty much same thing in headline, byline and first paragraph. I’m not expert in reporting style but that doesn’t seem right.
