The sponsorship will open up new opportunities for the club

The University of York men’s cricket club last night announced a sponsorship deal worth £2000 with Kingfisher beer and Saffron.

Back in July the club announced on Twitter that it would employ a professional to coach the First XI. ECB level 3 coach John Sadler will start in October.

UYCC President Matija Pisk said of the new deal: “Absolutely buzzing to have signed this contract with Kingfisher and Saffron Desi. For the club this is huge for our development and our appointment of John Sadler as head coach is testament to this.”

The 32-year-old had his collar-bone broken by a Brett Lee bouncer, but came back to score 1000 in the 2006 season.
