Marian Lally has been elected Halifax President, seeing off a strong challenge from first year candidate Tom Wilkinson. The campaign had focused on how to improve events, extending Costuctter opening hours, giving Halifax more of a college feel and getting more second and third years involved.
All three Vice-President positions were uncontested and Rebekah Martin, Matt Winstanley, and Matthew Stallworthy were elected.
Martin was elected as Vice-President for Welfare and said she wanted to bring back drop in hours and for welfare to have a bigger presence at the college. She added that she wanted more welfare events, and stated that she would like to work more with YUSU.
Winstanley was elected as Vice-President for Services and plans to hold “bigger and better” events and to expand the Xtra branding further. He also promised to look for better sponsorship packages while making the website more accessible and up to date.
Stallworthy is now Vice-President for Activities and campaigned with the intention to maintain Halifax’s RAG record while at the same time introduce more volunteering events. He also aims to re-energise sport at the college and have a JJ’s with a purpose.
