Lancaster take Roses lead

Lancaster University have taken an early Roses lead over York, beating the White Rose in today’s equestrian events to take the first six points of the tournament.

Lancaster won both events, conceding fewer penalties in both the firsts contest, which they took 26-135, and the seconds, winning 84-158.

Lancaster lead 6-0, after the points on offer for Sunday’s cancelled rowing events were removed from the overall score.

The tournament continues tomorrow, with the men’s cricket seconds due to clash at Morecambe CC.

Full report from the two equestrian events to follow.
