16.57

We are working to bring you a round up of todays results and points as soon as possible. A big thank you Simon Bromley, Tom Shipman, Sam Morgan, Chris Underwood, David Ambrozejczyk, Philippa Grafton, Lucy Dixon, Peter Iveson, Andrew Fairbairn and Jonathan Frost who were instrumental in bringing you the best Varsity coverage on campus. We’ll be back tomorrow at 10 am when hopefully York will be able to continue their strong Saturday showing.

16.45

Chants of “We are Hull, We are Hull” from the away side’s netballers. Not to take away from them at all, but we are York and it is 39-9 at the close of the first day.

16.44

51-36 to Hull.

16.40

Three in a row for Hull. Heads have dropped.

16.38

Atmosphere dying at the netball as York’s chances of a comeback fade with every goal scored by Hull’s GA.

16.37

Any comments that mention someone individually very much run the risk of not getting on. Just so you know.

16.36

There haven’t been any red or yellow cards today but Mr Farrell says “it’s getting a bit tasty”. Therefore I felt it would be good to use Jonathan Frost’s superb graphics.

16.34

Me: (to Mia) “I mentioned you on the blog, by the way”
Mia: What blog?

Who says sports is under-appreciated?

16.30

38-29. Hope fading for York it would appear

16.29

Huge roar from the Hull contingent as they kick off this final quarter. They want this. A win here would see the final score after today’s action be 39-9, I believe.

16.28

7-0 to York at the end of the men’s second lacrosse.

That’s another three points for York.

16.27

37-29, misunderstanding at the netball. Still in it, just about.

16.26

Captain Cesca Dessain is having a stomer, 31-25 to Hull at the end of the third quarter.

16.25

30-25 to Hull in the netball.

16.24

I can confirm, by the way, that the score is indeed 36-5 to York. Just got off the phone with YUSU organisers.

16.22

Goodricke won 2-1 according to Nouse writer Luke Gardener. We’ll try and get more info on that game.

16.22

Farrell has gone quiet at the netball. Muse Editor Mia de Graaf has joined us in the office. She’s such a big sports fan she once declared Hernandez to be her favourite Man City player…

16.18

3 in a row for “dead eye” Masterson at the netball. “She’s the nuts” says the undoubtedly eloquent Jake Farrell. That is high praise, in English it translates as “she’s extremely good”.

16.18

The sun is out, but will it dry 22 acres in time for tomorrow’s crunch fixtures?

16.17

6-0 to York in the seconds lacrosse. Hull putting in a decent shift, according to correspondent Simon ‘Mr Reliable’ Bromley.

16.15

@Terry Henry

We’re trying to get something now. Unfortunately we didn’t quite have enough reporters so we haven’t got anyone on it. Apologies.

@Tom M

I know you’re only joking, but given recent welfare issues regarding comments, tone it down a bit then it might get on.

Well played though, you also boast one of the nicest/most polite teams to talk to on a sideline!

16.08

25-17 to Hull at half-time. York still in with a shout, despite being two leagues below Hull.

16.06

But no sooner have I said that I receive a text from J-Fazz Farrell saying York have grabbed two goals in a row.

16.05

Hull’s GA is a very tall and talented player, apparently vying with York’s Kay Masterson for player of the match so far. The away side now opening up a bit of a lead.

16.01

4-0 to York at half-time in the seconds lacrosse.

16.00

Photo Editors Peter Iveson and Lucy Dixon have just returned from 22 Acres. “Everything will be off tomorrow, 22 Acres is a quagmire” predicts Pete.

15.59

17-13 to Hull now. Stay in it until half-time ladies!

15.56

16-12 now. Goals either way. Tight.

15.53

14-11. One way traffic says Farrell.

15.52

14-10 to Hull. Two consecutive goals for York. COME ON YORK!

15.52

14-8 to Hull at the end of the first quarter. York not looking out of their depth though. Encouraging signs.

15.50

The women’s football finished 6-1 says Mr Ambrozejczyk

15.50

It’s all gone quiet on the texts…

15.44

2-0 to the men’s seconds lacrosse team at the end of the first quarter.

15.43

Kay Masterson is on fire.

15.42

6-5 to the netballers!

15.42

6-1 to the women’s footballers. Ballantyne doubling her tally from a few yards out.

15.39

The netball is a brilliant game apparently. Very quick. The hosts now matching Hull after a slow start. Come on York!

15.39

15.36

Big atmosphere in the tent according to Mr Farrell.

15.35

In the firsts netball, probably today’s marquee fixture, it’s 4-0 to the women from Hull.

15.34

@ Doug J

It might sound like a language course but I can assure you it is not. Do need to brush up on my Latin though, caecilius est in horto is about as good as it gets. Some valuable points won by Dancesport though and they were very helpful in explaining to us how it worked as well so we’re big fans of them. Some brilliant photos as well.

15.32

There will also be match reports from every game we’ve covered going online this evening, and they too will have photos.

15.30

5-1 to York in the women’s football. Bea Rye makes it 5 with a cool left-footed effort.

15.27

@Dancer

Yes, we will produce a slideshow of all our images at the end of the weekend.

15.25

And the points are shared at the tennis where a tie-break goes York’s way to seal a draw.

15.24

A Newcastle-Arsenal-esque comeback on the cards at the women’s football? A free-kick eludes everyone to make it 4-1 as Hull pull one back

15.21

“Chucking it down on the 22 Acres. Only the hardy remain” says photographer supremo Peter Iveson.

15.18

Thanks very much to everyone commenting. Really great to get them. I don’t want to get involved in the College/Rugby debate, personally. As for mo ashraghi, we were fans of the Arsenal kit and you played well. We’ll add your surname to the live blog underneath now. Frosty, that means Andrew has been fixing our graphics – hero.

15.14

Quote from the medics’ seconds match earlier, and a good bit of news in terms of Sam Asfahani’s decision to switch to playing Hull. “It’s great to get involved with Varsity with the whole Uni. We’ve been playing this fixture for five years and it’s always great to beat Hull” said Tom Morris, the victorious York medics captain.

15.12

4-0 York. Ruth Welford has cracked in a thunderbolt from the edge of the area. However, it is raining.

15.10

Are you sure it’s an incorrect graphic Frosty?

15.09

Shipman has also sent in some lacrosse details where York won 8-4, meaning another four points for York. Phil Harrold added: ” [we] played well but it took us a while to get into our game. In the third quarter we picked up our game and got a few goals in so we managed to grind out a result in the end”

15.07

1-0 to the York Uni thirds against Goodricke, according to Tom ‘Shippo’ Shipman. 10 minutes into the second half there.

15.06

Bit of news from Sam Morgan, who has just returned from the netball. York supporters were told off for cheering when Hull miss, he reckons the Rose and Cider might have been opened a touch too soon.

15.04

Gabby Stewart hits the bar a minute into the second half. Ambrozejczyk says it could have been double figures if York had taken their chances.

15.02

Update from tennis hero Chris Underwood. Fifth game of the afternoon finishes and it isn’t in York’s favour, although with the slightly more respectable scoreline of 6-0, 6-3 as Hull take the doubles. The best York can hope for now is a share of the points.

15.00

A quote from netball seconds captain Jo Brayshaw: “really pleased with the win. We’re not used to playing such a fiesty team but we coped really well”

14.59

@Igor

Tim has very kindly, and very generously, made an exception for Varsity.

14.58

Rob Rampley makes it 8-2 before two Hull goals means it’s 8-4 with two minutes to play in the men’s lacrosse

14.57

Two goals at the lacrosse where Phil Harrold and Krishna Balan have made it 7-2 to York

14.55

Which of course means 3 points!

14.55

York win 54-26 in the women’s seconds netball

14.48

Sam Morgan tells us it’s now 54-26 to York in the seconds netball.

14.46

Great defensive effort from the seconds netball, with Hull yet to score in the final quarter. 49-24 to Yorkie there.

14.46

Goal to Hull in the men’s firsts lacrosse, 5-2 to York now.

14.40

Chris Underwood says it’s all gone wrong at the tennis. There’s been a whitewash on centre court while Hull have taken the first set 6-0.

14.37

47-24 to York in the seconds netball.

14.36

And it’s 5-1 to York in the lacrosse, Tom Maitland the scorer. Final quarter just about to start, Hull’s offence too static says expert Tom Shipman.

14.35

3-0 York. The York women are having a stormer. Rose Hooks taps in from a yard after a horrible mix-up in the Hull defence. Correspondent David Ambrozejczyk says: “Game over”. Brave prediction.

14.30

2-0 York in the women’s football. Bethan Pugh with a fabulous 20-yard strike.

14.29

Reaction from the Barbarians vs The University of York 3rds courtesy of Simon Bromley: Uni 3rds Sam Carr-Archer said of his team’s win; “we need to work our cohesion but we had some great individual performances, it was good to get the win”. Defeated Barbarians captain Gideon Heugh; “we can be proud of our performance, in the end their better fitness levels told”.

Sam Asfahani, who propped for the Barbarians spoke of plans “to make the Barbarians a regular game now”. He also added that he “was pleased with the opening day of Varsity” despite having to unfortunately cut Football 3rds and 4ths, he said that he was generally “glad that it went ahead”.

14.29

News in from Harrogate where York have won the climbing. Hull failed to turn up with enough people so it was reduced from an advanced and a beginners competition to just one fixture. We think that fixture is worth four points now, but we’re checking that up now.

14.28

Some action from the Netball 2nds game, still going on in the tent

14.27

1-0 to York in the women’s football. Captain Katy Ballantyne scoring from a penalty.

14.24

And all 4 points in the Advanced Latin. Abi Wilson said: “It was a really fun competition, Hull have been very good sports, we’re looking forward to next year”. She went on to single out the couple of Josh Boswell and Katie Haslington for praise.

14.20

The points were shared in the Beginners’ Latin

14.19

2 points in the Beginners’ Ballroom

14.19

4 points in the Advanced Ballroom

14.18

32-19 to York down at the Netball. As said earlier this match was set to be a tighter affair as both teams are in the same league. Not at the moment it would seem.

14.17

More points for York in the Dance Sport, hammering Hull 11-1.

14.16

York supporters, despite being plenty loud enough, have brought out a megaphone. Incredible work.

14.15

Reaction from down at the tennisis postive, they are 2-1 up and “optimistic and positive about the future”. Good to hear, 4 points from them could seal York’s domination here.

14.09

York Sport President Sam Asfahani may not have seen his University lose many points but he will have lost some pride as the Barbarians lose 13-15 to The University 3rds who came from behind to snatch victory with a last minute try.

14.07

The Netball seconds are 25-16 up at the break. A clean sweep for the Netball Club would be a remarkable achievement and would put York in the driving seat going into the late afternoon on this Varsity Saturday.

14.06

Krishna Balan has got a hat trick already. 3-1 York and Shipman says that York are dominating. Some really encouraging reports coming in from all over campus of great work from many York teams.

14.04

Amie Evans takes the tie break 7-5 to put York 2-1 up at the halfway stage of the tennis. Great composure there.

14.03

Quick correction Krishna Balan not Harold has been influential for the Lacrosse. Complaints directed towards the reporting skills of Tom Shipman.

14.02

Tension at the tennis – remaining singles match has gone to a tie break. More news as we get it. This match could decide the destination of a precious point.

14.00

Lacrosse is under way and York are 2-1 up thanks to Krishna Harold. I was lucky enough to watch this man in action as York drew 6-6 with Leeds recently. To say he was on another level doesn’t quite cover his importance to the York team.

Not quite the Notting Hill Carnival on the 22 acres although that famous York atmosphere, which in fact isn’t famous at all, should be on it’s way soon.

13.51

Great first day of this White Rose Varsity for York so far. Some huge games still to come.

13.50

End of the first quarter in the Netball and York are 12-7 ahead. Interesting stat – York are yet to be behind in any of the netball matches thus far. What a performance.

13.48

It’s level in the Tennis.Vikki Whittaker and Charlotte Baldwin have beaten the Hull pair to even things up. In for a tense finale down on the courts.

13.47

Hull have won the Medics first match. Tom Shipman has been speaking to York’s two goal captain Matt Fortnam who had this to say: ” The game was played in a good spirit but Hull were more up for it on the day and deserved to win”

13.45

Slight delay on Netball updates, mainly due to poor phone signal. Either way York have raced into a 9-4 lead. If this keeps going it could be a great day for the York Netball club. Nina Pullman and Rosie Mughal have been singled out for praise.

13.42

Ambro reports from the Netball seconds that this should be a tighter affair – these two teams are in the same league. Either way it’s first blood to York as they go 1-0 up.

13.42

Ambro reports from the Netball seconds that this should be a tighter affair – these two teams are in the same league. Either way it’s first blood to York as they go 1-0 up.

13.38

Shippo reports that York have made it 3-2 with three minutes to play in the medics first match. Scrappy has been used many times to describe the match in texts.

13.36

York Medics seconds win 3-2 in dramatic circumstances to add another point to the York total. They didn’t make it easy for themselves but a point is a point.

13.33

13.31

Barbarians lead cut yet again as the Thirds make it 13-10. Will President Sam be left rueing his decision to try and take it to the rugby boys?

13.29

LATE WINNER FOR YORK. Mo Patel has volleyed in on the turn to give York a 3-2 lead that ,from all reports of the game, is the least that they deserve. Superb stuff.

13.26

Going right to the wire in the Seconds match. Can York nick the point or will they settle for a half? Bansema has missed another one on one and really should of secured the game.

13.25

After two golden chances fell to Will Bansema, Hull have equalised to make it 2-2 in the Medics Seconds football thanks to the Arsenal-clad Mo Asraghi. York have had chances to take their tally to double figures says Henry who cannot believe he could witness a draw. Five to play down on the 22.

13.22

Chris Underwood’s predictions of a break of serve for Amy Graham proved unfounded. The first game of the day is over on centre court and Faye Button, a Lincolnshire county player no less, has won 6-0 6-0 for Hull.

13.19

Tom Shipman may have pulled the footballing short straw. As Henry notifies me that his game could result in one of the most unlikley comebacks ever Shippo tells me that his game is scrappy and focuses on the fact that people are selling burgers and cakes.

13.16

Hull Seconds half the deficit in the Medics football as Faran Vela scores from the spot. Thats three penalties in two medics games stat fans.

13.13

York have taken the first set in the tennis doubles and Amie Evans has done the same in her singles match. Amy Graham is threatening a break as well in her match.

13.10

Peter Iveson has come back to the office to eat his lunch, get hold of some pictures for the blog and moan about the standard of pitches on the 22 acres. Great to have him here.

13.04

The Barbarian’s lead has been reduced by a a Jordan Abbot try and a Ben Brummit penalty. 13-5 now at half time in what looks to be an entertaining encounter. Si Bromley says that the Barbars are looking good but the University Thirds aren’t out of this one yet.

13.02

Paddy Campbell has gone off for the Medics seconds but has been the stand out player for his side. He also looks like Sheffield United Player Steven Quinn apparently.

13.00

Tennis scores coming in from Chris Underwood. Amie Evans is 3-1 up for York. Hull have taken the first set and are a break up in the second against Amy Graham. York are winning the doubles by 4 game to 3 in the first set.

12.52

Henry Cowen is coming out with so much gold at the moment it is untrue. Sadly I can barely keep up. His latest offering from the 22 acres where he’s watching the Medics Football Seconds take on their hull counterparts.

“Bad news. It’s raining. Good news, it’s not spherical drops of water, it’s chances. York are so dominant.”

12.51

Kate Copson after her Netball Thirds side won 47 -12: “Rhia Stevens-Leach was very deserving of woman of the match . Fitness showed through 100%and the constant interceptions we made meant that we could be strong in attack”

12.47

York back on level terms in the Medics first. Cullen brought down in the area to win a penalty converted by Skipper Matt Fortnam. It’s all going York’s way at the minute.

12.46

It’s half time at the Medic Seconds and York are winning 2-0. Great stuff.

12.45

Sam Asfahani will be very pleased. The Barbarians side he is turning out for today have just gone 10-0 up after some great running from Ben Smith sliced the Uni defense open.

12.43

What a result for the Netball Thirds. They scored 14 goals without reply as their match ended 47 – 12. Top stuff from the ladies in the tent and another great point for York.

12.42

The Medics Firsts have conceded a second now after a late challenge from McCormick led to a penalty. Dan Callingham saved only for the ball to fall to a Hull players feet.

12.40

Jonny Pawson has just had a dig from 25 yards that went close for the medics seconds. Sounds like Hull are under the kosh down there, Henry is mystified as to how it is only 2-0 York.

12.35

The only game York are down in at the minute could be restored to parity soon. The Medics firsts have had two good efforts saved to prevent them from equalising. Shippo has said that it’s well worth turning up – he’s just found 5p.

12.34

Paddy Campbell appears to be the fulcrum of the York Medics Seconds side at the moment. Henry Cowen has deemed him worthy of the icon you see to the right of this text. High praise indeed.

12.32

The Barbarians are 5-0 up against the University thirds with King of College Rugby Alex Muntus going over after a lovely move. Simon Bromley says the Barbarians look up for this

12.31

This high level of team wear is not helping the Hull Medics seconds however as Henry says that he has just watched an instance of “the worst defending I have ever seen”. Let’s hope York can kill that game before half time.

12.29

There is some astonishing news coming in from the 22 acres. A Hull Medics seconds player is wearing the full Arsenal away kit including shorts and socks. That is commitment to the cause, especially for someone who is presumably over the age of 13 and living in Hull.

12.27

Hull Medics Seconds trying to haul themselves back into it at the moment and with some success it would seem. There was a minor injury moments ago. Henry Cowen observes that there can’t be many better games to sustain an injury in. A physio’s match maybe?

12.25

It’s now 36-12 to York with one quarter to go in the Netball thirds match. Sam Morgan has just described the show down as a “point in the bag” – at this moment it would be hard to disagree.

12.24

York still well on top in the Medics Seconds clash, Henry Cowen has just told me that they should have added to their total as well.

12.24

The burger bar installed on the 22 acres is seeing some action. In the Medics game Tom Shipman reports that Luke Thornton has just missed a “golden chance” to level the score, smashing his shot over the bar from close range.

12.19

Eliza Achlund has come off the bench to add to the impressive tally of the York Netball Thirds. It’s 32-11 down there now and Sam Morgan says they just haven’t figured out how to stop the rampant home side. It may be a shade early to break out the “Point for York” but a 6 point lead could be on the cards.

12.16

In other news the Medics Football Seconds are 2-0 up thanks to goals from Taylor Messenger and Jonny Pawson. Henry says they are the most polite team ever, always nice to hear

12.14

Bad news from Shippo as the Hull Medics Football Firsts are 1-0 up inside 5 minutes after a dodgy clearance from Stu Haldon. Plenty of time to turn it around yet.

12.08

Sam Morgan is struggling with predictive text in the tent. Our earlier reference to the half time score at the netball should have read first quarter. Still good news though as the York Ladies thirds are 20 -8 up at the break.

12.06

All change in the office as Sports Editor Henry Cowen heads down to join Tom Shipman on the 22 acres for the Medics football matches. Simon Bromley is en route to the Barbarians rugby match and Sam Morgan is watching the netball. Jake Farrell here through until quarter to two, stay with Nouse for all the latest updates as we get them.

11.50

Just to bring you up to speed on the morning’s events so far:

York added to their overnight 4 point lead with a mauling in the Medics Netball, the home side running out 50-5 winners

The York Netball Thirds are also 9-3 ahead at half time in the tent .

Rhia Stevens -Leach “On fire” according to Sam Morgan

Struggling to get hold of the scores from the dance sport as they are being formerly judged. It’s looking positive though, we’ll bring you updates as we get them.

Still to come:

The Medics football will be kicking of shortly, as well the exhibition Rugby between the College Barbarians and The Uni Thirds. Apparently it’s getting busy on the 22 acres.

11.49

Fixture List for both days – Updated and (hopefully) correct!

11.40

The reports of crowd turn out down at the netball is heartening. Sam Morgan and Ambro reporting that it is surprisingly large and loud. Well in York Sport, let’s hope we can keep it up throughout the weekend. It certainly bodes well, especially with many of the big games to come.

11.35

York have now gone 3-0 up and the formerly rowdy Hull contingent are a bit quieter. This momentum is good for York, as we saw from Roses 2010, the home team put a lot of red on the board early on and it was difficult to chase them down.

11.35

11.31

Deputy Sports Editor Sam Morgan is down at the tent for the netball where the thirds have just kicked off the second match of the day. It’s a carnival atmosphere according to Sam and Amy Moll has just put the home side 1-0 up.

11.29

Apologies for the fixture confusion. We’ll have a comprehensive list up of Sunday’s action with you in due course.

11.24

@Joe Davies, and others, we may have said some games were off that are not. We apologise for that, confusion between the two days’ fixtures. You’re correct in that the men’s firsts football is on tomorrow.

11.23

The rain/waterlogged pitches is, apparently, not to blame for those games that have been cancelled. It’s Hull teams pulling out in favour of re-arranging BUCS fixtures.

11.15

Apparently #varsity2011 was in use last week for Nottingham v Nottingham Trent. It’s no York v Hull…

Simon Bromley is at the Dance Sport and has bagged a quote from York dancer Alistair Mason: “We’re hoping for a win today”. Tense atmosphere in D-Bar, apparently.

If you want to comment on Twitter use the hashtag #varsity2011. Head to @nousesport, @jakefarrell7, @peteriveson or @henrycowen for EVEN more analysis/fixture confusion.

If your score still says 4-0, manually refresh the page to see it turn to 5-0 to York!

@Joe Davies

I’m not entirely sure, to be honest with you.

There are/have been about 10 different fixture lists at various times. All I can say is that this is the rest of today’s sport.

Netball

9.30 York Medics v Hull Medics – 50-5 WIN for York Medics.
11.30. York Women’s 3rds v Hull Women’s 3rds
1.30. York Women’s 2nds v Hull Women’s 2nds
3.30. York Women’s 1sts v Hull Women’s 1sts

Dancesport

11am

Climbing

11am. York A + B + C v Hull A + B + C

Tennis

12pm. Women’s 1sts v Women’s 1sts

Football

12pm. York Medics 1sts v Hull Medics 1sts
12pm. York Medics 2nds v Hull Medics 2nds
2pm. York Women’s 1sts v Hull Women’s 1sts
2pm. York Men’s 3rds v Goodricke College

Lacrosse

1.30pm. York Men’s 1sts v Hull Men’s 1sts
3pm. York Men’s 2nds v Hull Men’s 2nds

10.57

A lot of people in the office, not a lot of sports going on…

10.50

50-5 to the York Medics in the netball. 1 point to York! (Graphic on its way!)

10.48

Some say that England v France is the big game of today’s sporting calendar but, in thirteen minutes, it’s Dancesport’s time to shine. Now that, my friends, is ‘le crunch’. Sports Correspondent Simon Bromley is about to head off towards Derwent Bar to cover it.

10.46

@Joe Davies.

Sorry for the confusion, these fixtures are off. The College Barbarians v York Men’s 3rds is on.

Tennis

York Men’s 1sts v Hull Men’s 1sts
York Men’s 2nds v Hull Men’s 2nds

Football

York Men’s 1sts v Hull Men’s 1sts
York Men’s 2nds v Hull Men’s 2nds

10.42

To my housemate, yes they are my clothes in the tumble dryer. Feel free to take them out, apologies. We’re nearing the final whistle at the netball where York are close to securing their first point of the day, and we’ve got some superb graphics to use when it happens!

10.40

York are fore (see what I did there) – nil up because of the golfers! They won yesterday 3.5-2.5 so the early advantage is in our favour.

10.32

Hull have just scored. Late comeback on the cards? Doubtful.

10.32

Just for the Medics, Jonathan. Don’t panic.

10.28

Period of convalescence needed for Hull Medics as York inject pace into the game by operating successfully to amputate the offensive supply line. They have been clinical in front of goal and their opponents will be hoping to diagnose and cure their defensive problems going into the final quarter.

10.26

We are live blogging from the Nouse office in Grimston House – yes, we did set off the alarm. Huge apologies, and thanks to the security man who helped us…

10.23

Jake says there’s a good crowd at the netball, but he’s hoping for more.

10.22

Good news, the rugby is on. I have been on the phone to Sam Asfahani himself and he confirms that the College Barbarians will be playing York Men’s 3rds at 12pm. Yay. That will put a smile on the faces of messrs Muntus and Heugh.

10.18

Hull have just arrived in t-shirts that say “We are Hull” on them. York score another in the Medics.

10.11

2 more goals for York, 21-4 to us now.

10.10

Graphics man Mr Frost is correct, there is a slight issue with the fixtures on the right. Technical hero Andrew is currently on a mission to sort it all out.

10.08

In fact, they’re now 15 points up at half-time. Dare we say that’s a point in the bag?

10.07

Better news at the netball where York’s medics have gone 19-4 up. In Jake’s words: “Dealing out some harsh medicine”.

10.07

Now it wouldn’t be a day of York Sport action if the blooming rain didn’t have a say. The following fixtures have been called off….

Rugby

College Barbarians v York Men’s 3rds

Tennis

York Men’s 1sts v Hull Men’s 1sts
York Men’s 2nds v Hull Men’s 2nds

Football

York Men’s 1sts v Hull Men’s 1sts
York Men’s 2nds v Hull Men’s 2nds

Not the start anyone wanted.

10.01

With all that to come there’s a lot to be excited about so don’t just sit at home, get down to the pitches and support your teams. If you do decide to stay at home, however, give us a comment!

10.00

Technical wizz Andrew is currently sat next to me playing with something called ‘the terminal’ to fix our technical issues…

09.59

And here is what is in store…

Netball

1.30. York Women’s 2nds v Hull Women’s 2nds
3.30. York Women’s 1sts v Hull Women’s 1sts

Dancesport

3pm. York Men’s 2nds v Hull Men’s 2nds

09.51

We’ve had a few technical errors, isn’t it always the way, but lovely Jake Farrell is headed off to the medics’ netball (sorry, he’s late) and we’re off and running!

09.28

Hello and welcome to the inaugural White Rose Varsity. The sun is out, kind of, and the Nouse Sport team is here to guide you through an action-packed first day of sport.

  23. mo ashraghi says:

quick note on the hull medic in the arsenal kit…i dont have a hull kit so it was the closest i had! Also, arsenal are future champs…so i hoped the quality would rub off…obviously it didnt :( id like a mention by name since i won the pen and scored the second goal!

  24. anonymous says:

Good effort by the College barbarians. I was under the impression that they were supposed to be playing a university 3rd team however doesn’t Sam Carr-Archer who captained the 3rds today actually plays for university 1st or 2nd team? Does this mean that college rugby is actually the same standard as the uni 1st team?

  25. Jonathan Frost says:

    It used to be…
