Nouse Societies Guide

Societies are a big part of university life and, along with sports clubs, are a great way of having fun and meeting new people. Whether you want to share an interest, keep fit, develop a skill, show off your talent, or try something completely new, getting involved with societies is a great thing to do! You’re almost guaranteed to find a society that appeals to you, and if not then you can always start your own.
The societies below are registered with YUSU (the Student’s Union) so you’ll be able to find most of them at the Freshers’ Fair, during Freshers’ week, where you can find out more of what they are about and ask any questions you have. Even if you’re not sure about something write your email address on their list to get updates about what the society is up to, and you can get involved at any stage throughout the year.
Some of the societies you join will become things you do for the rest of your life, and you’ll make friends who you can share these passions with. There’s always somewhere to fit in, so why not get away from your work and give it a go!?
You can find out more about each society listed here and how to contact them on the YUSU website at yusu.org/societies.
