Lecturer appointed as Lords advisor

Dr John Parkinson of the Politics Department has been appointed Special Advisor to the House of Lords Constitution Committee. Having been approached by the Clerk of the Committee last November, he will now be advising on the current inquiry into ‘Referendums in the UK’s Constitutional Experience’. Dr Parkinson said he was “delighted”, stating : “It’s been really interesting to participate in the deliberations of the Committee right from the start.” The Committee makes independent inquiries into a variety of issues involving the UK’s Constitution.
