Presidential Debate planned

This Thursday, March 4 2010, presidential candidates will debate. Questions can be asked from the audience or sent in advance

Please note that the time of this event has now been changed to 8.30pm due to a clash with a UGM in which both Tim Ngwena and David Levene are involved.

This Thursday, Nouse and YSTV will be holding a presidential debate in which questions for the presidential hopefuls can be asked from the audience or sent in advance.

The debate, hosted by Nouse Editor Charlotte Hogarth-Jones, will begin at 8.30pm in V/045 and will last about an hour. Anyone is welcome to be part of the audience, please see the facebook event to attend. During that time, live coverage will be aired by YSTV, shown in The Courtyard alongside live blogging on Nouse.

If you have a question you would like to submit please leave comments below or email [email protected] in advance.

  2. This will be good but it is a shame it isn’t in front of a live audience like it was in 2008, when it was organised by PEP Club, under my close friend Alexios Mantzarlis.

It’s far harder to heckle a live web feed!

  8. The only reason it wasn’t in front of a studio audience last year was that it was planned very hurriedly after we found out that the Club of PEP wasn’t organising one and there were no suitable rooms (that is to rig up a TV studio in) on campus available at short notice!

  9. Hi Chris, Hi Charlotte, Hi XXIII, Hi All,

It seems that today’s hustings is now in P/X/001 at 6.30pm, not L/N/028.

  14. YUSU NEEDS… A little less CONVERSATION, a little more ACTION.

  15. So YUSU should converse less with the students it is meant to represent?

Action is good but as we have seen before (Summer Ball plans last year), the students have a strong dislike for action unless it is backed up with conversation…

If anything, YUSU needs more conversation with students and as long as certain groups demand a say on every little detail then there will still need to be conversation between these groups at meetings like YUSU Council.

Sorry, YUSU is a membership lead organisation with many stakeholders so conversation will always have to play a huge role in how it operates.

    The Mysterons

    Question for the debate:

Now that the Mysteron threat seems to have passed, what steps would you take to protect the Union from potential extra-terrestrial attacks?
