Candidate profiles from YUSU Elections 2010

Tim Ngwena has held the post of YUSU President for the past year and was also Fusion President the year before.

In his campaign for re-election, Ngwena’s main objective is to re-focus strategic efforts of the Union on effective campaigns, sustainable growth and continuous development of the University and the Union.

His key manifesto promises include the introduction of a Union reward card to directly reward students, colleges and societies, as well as increasing and streamlining support for colleges to ensure that individual needs are addressed.

He has also proposed ideas that will reform the role of President, including the establishment of a weekly and termly impact and activity report on the actions and efficiency of the Union.

International students are also a focus, with his proposal for a YUSU International Students arrival week and event, which will maintain continued collaboration throughout the year.
