Rob Newton, current President of the Male Hockey Club, wants to help sport at York, “Play More, Win More and Be More.” If elected, he hopes to “improve perceptions of college sport” and increase the availability of “non-competitive exercise for students.”
Newton aims to improve the perceived image of YorkSport via various positive development policies. He is committed to making sports clubs more professional, with regard to the provision of coaching, equipment and facilities.
One of Newton’s key aims is to develop participation in disability sport at the University. He also plans to develop an incentive-driven ‘York Sport Clubmark Award’. Through stringent budgeting and realistic short term change, Newton believes that increased funding can be found in the long term.
