Peter Welfare-Medley’s campaign aims to ” focus on communication, support and tackling real students’ real problems.” With experience as former Welfare Rep for Langwith and current LGBT Officer, he promises to offer strategies to utilise the welfare system to its maximum potential.
Warner-Medley believes communication of the support available at York needs to be “in people’s faces”. He suggests providing each kitchen with a wall planner of basic welfare services and engaging in early discussion with groups to improve communication.
A key concern of his campaign is the support of volunteers within the welfare system. He promises better equipped and supported welfare volunteers who are more able to communicate with the demographic they represent, “tackling the issues that matter to them”.
Warner-Medley’s campaign puts emphasis on not just giving the right advice, but also giving support to “those who haven’t followed it”, such as providing workshops to protect students against “dodgy landlords”.
