Candidate profiles from YUSU Elections 2010

Katy Unsworth believes that university is not merely an academic experience, and wants to ensure that the role of Student Activities Officer focuses on what YUSU can do for students.

Her policies centre on promoting student involvement in campus activities, and wants to encourage students to embrace all the opportunities available to them at York. Unsworth also promises to ensure that all events are well and equally publicised for both larger and smaller societies on campus.

If elected, she hopes to achieve a closer working relationship between all the strands of student activities, as she believes closer interaction between the different societies and the students will increase participation. Unsworth’s campaign particularly emphasises the encouragement of RAG and YUSU Volunteering, with plans to make RAG week bigger and better. She believes that greater co-operation will achieve more than ever before.
