Ben Humphrys, YUSU’s incumbent Welfare Sabbatical Officer, wishes to focus on the academic needs of our current student population, and the fulfilment of his manifesto by not letting the University ignore those needs. He states a “vision for academic representation”, by finding and taking action “on your views”, a method he has previously implemented in “achieving ambitious manifestos”.
Humphrys wishes to work closely with students to: maintain reasonable tuition fees; train and support Representatives; and provide consistency in academic procedures.
During his year as a Sabbatical Officer, Humphrys has represented the Union to the highest University bodies, and is the only candidate to have had experience in representing students at academic appeals.
Humphrys has stated he would value the opportunity to continue representing our student population by “moving the emphasis over to academia”.
