Body found in Ouse identified as missing University of York Student

A body recovered from the River Ouse on January 4th has today been confirmed as that of missing 21-year-old University of York student, Pierre Le Moignan.

Moignan, a fourth-year Chemistry student, was reported missing on November 21 2009. He was last seen at his house on Seventh Avenue in York at about 10am that day. Items of clothing along with a note giving a time and date were found by a walker by the Millennium Bridge in York the following day.

A search of the river and surrounding countryside was originally hampered by water levels at the end of last year after flooding in Yorkshire. The body, which until now was unidentified, was eventually found early this month by the Old Toll Bridge in Selby.
