YSTV coverage: http://ystv.york.ac.uk/watch/York-Come-Dancing/09-10/
22.14
Thanks for reading folks! We’re certainly gonna keep dancing! And WE here at BtD hope YOU keep dancing too! Cheerio!
22.12
They’re thanking us. Brilliant!
22.10
It’s all cheers and smiles here. And yet I’ve still got the prizes (signed copies of Craig Revel Horwood’s biography). Noone wants to take them by the looks of it. Win!
22.08
The total for RAG – that’s what it’s all about – is £1,298.95. It’s brilliant. Well done everyone!
22.07
Another performance of Chi-wa-wa and this time, like last time, we are absolutely loving it. The crowd is going crazy, Chris Young is crying and the temptation to take to the stage and just join in is, frankly, nearly overpowering us!
22.06
Amazing. We wet ourselves. Peter and Abi are tearful. They say thank you to everyone. Time for the winning dance!
22.05
It’s Lewis & Peter left.
In 1st PLACE – PETER WARNER-MEDLEY & Abi.
With Lewis Bretts & Emily in Second.
22.04
3rd – Ed Lewis-Smith & Sarah
22.04
4th – Steve Miller & Rosie
22.04
5th – Tim & Harriet
22.04
6th – Gruff & Abi
22.04
a hiccup now.
7th – Zoe Stones & Phil
22.03
8th – Anna Bucks & Nathan
22.03
9th – Jason Rose & Claire
22.03
In 10th – Ollie Hutchings & Sarah
22.03
The results are out. A big brown envelope.
In 11th – Emily Scott & Richard
22.02
OK. Results time.
Oh no. Maybe not. Who knows what’s going on backstage.
22.01
they’re getting impatient in here. so are we!
22.00
Steve Miller’s fans are going off the chain!
22.00
The count has to be verified. To the audience goes Luke. Time to pass the time.
21.59
Here comes the ‘wonderful counter’. apparently.
The dancers are split between Ed and Peter. Ed thinks he’s won!
21.58
and now back in come the couples for the results. Jones has left me but My Young is back. the tension mounts.
21.58
Tom Flynn suggests Jane “asks a porter” for her missing glove. controversial stuff!
21.57
so. audience cheers to score here. And random audience member Emily rolling in the audience cheers. Jane on the other hand, not quite so popular. It’s to the judges to decide.
21.54
We can hear Luke whispering “1 2 3″ to lovely Jane. Random audience member not doing badly either.
21.53
And now, what you’ve all been waiting for JANE GRENVILLE! whoop!
21.53
and now, ladies and gentlemen, the ‘much’ coveted Online Winner (this could be a taster of who will win):
in first; Anna Bucks.
Joint Second; Emily Scott, Ollie Hutchings and Peter Warner-Medley.
The tension mounts…
21.49
OMG it’s Mary Poppins music, my fave film in the world!!!! Final guesses, who do you reckons going to win?
21.48
very impressive show by the Dancesport guys there
21.46
hmm girl on girl action here at YCD……ah and now its over, blink and you would have missed it….
21.45
RAG hopes to hear from you. And the applause starts, thankfully drowning out mine and Jones’ laughter.
Now for some Dancesport ballroom..
21.44
Maybe we should start dancing…..any suggestions?
21.44
Right now Jones and I are the only thing on the stage (except the less than impressive RAG powerpoint).. lots of eyes. The pressures on….
21.43
There’s a powerpoint thing on at the moment about Rag. I don’t think it’s working properly. It is rubbish.
21.43
Jones here. Would just like to add that there was no temptation on my part to take to the floor. Not one bit. Bulley on the other hand had to be physically restrained, he’s even bought his own bit of gold stuff….
21.42
Dancesport really know how to throw a party. That was their latin section apparently. Despite the temptation, Jones and myself have opted not to head out onto the floor for a spin!
Fiona’s back out and the show goes on..
21.38
Harriet Waghorn and Luke Malkin taking a spin on the floor now. These guys are good. They’re very good.
Raw passion. The chemistry between them is amazing!
21.36
sexy dancing here from Emily Sargeant….and Harriet too!
21.34
Nathan Burles and Claire Cornock have taken to the stage, supported by a plethora of dancers, and they are putting on quite the stage.
Central Hall, surprisingly, looking as full as it was earlier. Looks like the temptation of alcohol hasn’t deterred this crowd.
21.33
Something is happening. As Black Eyed Peas blare out the speakers the professional dancers take to the floor. It’s myself (Bulley) and Jones, the dream team, to take you through the rest of the night.
21.32
Go on….write a comment…. you know you want to…..
21.31
So. Here we sit. Waiting patiently for some kind of result. Or dance. Or action. Frankly, we have no idea what happens next.
21.30
Voting has now closed. If you didn’t vote, all I can say is, you snooze you lose. Apparently Steve Miller got a standing ovation at the Courtyard. What a ledge…..and he’s just come back in now…..
21.24
Voting is closing in the next couple of minutes. Last chance to vote!
21.23
Co-editor of Haus Esme Anderson is shaking her thang…..and by ‘thang’ I mean RAG bucket…yes its not as exciting as you thought. Sorry chaps.
21.17
Gruff has just come and inspected the YCD live blog, seemingly not too happy about being called “dwarfy”. Sorry Gruff, I meant it in the nicest way.
21.16
There are lots of girls wandering about with bits of gold stuff tied around their nether regions…probably about to do some kind of dance I reckon!
21.15
The other Ollie, current Alcuin chair,is nursing an ice cold beer. Its tough at the top.
21.13
Ollie Todd has just suggested the final je ne sais quoi in his campaign will be to change his status to “vote for me or I’ll kill you”. Clearly more of a fan of the stick than the carrot eh Ollie? Nouse suggests he wont be running for Welfare rep any time in the near future…
21.09
Anyone in the audience got any food? I’m bloody starving…where’s Adam Shergold when you need him?!
21.08
I’m joined by Ollie Todd candidate for Alcuin chair, and second only to RON. He says that he “really likes it” and that its “much better than last year” with a “more appropriate space”. Damn straight. If he succeeds in his campaign for chair he assures Nouse that he will be donning some exceptionally tight sequinned trousers and taking to the floor if asked… Now he says I am “putting words into [his] mouth”. Lies. Don’t vote for him. Only kidding, do.
21.05
Jones here again, all on my lonesome *sob*
“I am incredibly nervous” says Jane Grenville, just before her own special dance. She only has one glove on because she still hasn’t found the other one. She also says she “still has her job” following Henry “king of diplomacy” Foy’s comments earlier. I’m sure she will.
20.54
sorry, Anna Bucks is with Nathan Burles and Ollis Hutchings with Sarah Naylor. We got a bit carried away.
20.51
Here’s the current rankings from the judges:
1. Ed Lewis-Smith and Sarah Cook
2. Tim Ngwena and Harriet Waghorn
3. Peter Warner-Medley and Abi Wilson
Lewis Bretts and Emily Sargeant
5. Steve Miller and Rosie Portas
Gruff Jones and Abi Fenton
7. Jason Rose and Claire Cornock
8. Zoe Stones and Phillip Sellars
9. Ollie Hutchings
Anna Bucks
11. Emily Scott and Richard Baker.
20.45
Unless, as makes more sense. You’re off campus. In which case, please vote online at yusu.org/vote
20.44
Now it’s time to put your Wonga in the bucket. That’s what it’s all about. Put the money in the bucket and it will be magically turned into points.
It’s for charity. Please give. Now.
20.41
And a random audience member next (sorry, don’t know you) – she likes Ed though!
20.41
Charlie Leyland from the crowd, supporting Peter Warner-Medley tonight.
Kate Taylor up next. It’s all about Steve Miller for her and Sat.
20.40
Judges favourite’s now.
Sarah Chapman – the Tango, Ed Lewis-Smith and Sarah Cook there.
Joel thinks that Emily and Lewis need the support tonight.
Tom is all about the Tango too. It seems like that tango face has done the job.
Steve Miller is a popular choice too! The crowd loved him.
20.39
Lewis admits he’s “pleased it’s over”. It’s been “great though”
20.38
A secret – Joel told me last week he thinks Lewis can win. Let’s see what happens..
20.38
Judges comments:
Joel – says their footwork wasn’t the best. Boos from the crowd. Apparently it was one of his favourite pieces to watch and Lewis is a “gentlemen”
Sarah – “it was soft and nice to watch, fantastic”
And the scores are in:
8
7
9
9
A total of 33, good and strong middle of the board.
20.36
And here they go. The in-game: .. Lewis looking dapper, impressively graceful. The crowd are loving it. He’s smiling as well, we all like a smile. The moves are looking smooth as well – relaxed and in control. Good choice of music for the dance. And here comes the lift – amazing! Very popular, graceful and generally fantastic. Shame he got a bit out of time at the end there. Parents looking proud in the second row!!
20.34
Lewis and Emily admit they don’t want to come last, but if they do, they seem to have decided it will be Lewis’ fault!
Apparently Lewis has been very engaged – he’s even suggested some choreography (it hasn’t been included). In this afternoons dress rehearsal he lost his trousers. This could be entertaining!
20.32
last and by no means least is Lewis Bretts and Emily Sargeant, dancing the Foxtrott.
20.32
Peter and Abi say they were “in the zone” and Peter wants to thank their supporters for all the clapping and the signs!
20.31
Judges Comments:
Tom – “that was excellent. It was difficult, but look really really good.” And one more “peacock shake” from Abi for us there.
And the scores are:
8
8
8
9
Bringing a total of 33 – go Peter and Abi!
20.30
Here’s Chris with the in-game: The standard doggy paddle at the beginning there, very nice. Good synchronization as well, the crowd are very entertained! The view from behind is impeccable! The crowd really are loving it. A brilliant spin and straight into the sack of potatoes there. We are sold!
20.28
Well, Peter’s not dressed as a dog, but he does look pretty in green
20.27
Next up is popular favourite Peter Warner-Medley and Abi Wilson dancing the Jive. This promises to be fun!
Peter is nervous – he says this is nothing like his normal Sunday night Tru dancing venue! Apparently Peter might just be putting on some sort of fury outfit tonight!
20.25
“They’re walking on air” – we on the other hand, are on the edge of our seats. Who knows what will happen!!
Ed will have “a big smile everywhere”, although he demonstrates that killer ‘tango face’ once more for the punters!
20.24
Judge Joel admits they sent shivers down his spine. Impeccable footwork apparently. “The best dance of the night.” The judges loved them!
Scores in:
9
10
9
10
That’s a total of 38 – straight to the top!
20.23
News in for fans of other (worse shows) – Danyl is out of the X-Factor apparently!
20.23
Mr Young with the in-game analysis again: They look angry, good for a tango. Lots of emotion. He looks in control as well, always hard for an non-professional male. He’s got good passion, and the two seem to be connecting well in the dance. He’s focused as well. It’s a game face. Or a tango face. I’m not sure. Oh my, they’re making love on the dance floor! Save it for Ziggy’s you two! He did seem to enjoy pushing her though. Flynn seems to think it’s good
20.20
According to the video Ed has some sort of perverse thing about throwing Sarah on the floor.. we have no comment..
If all else fails they intend to pull out the “Tango Face”.. no. we don’t know what that is either!
20.19
Only three couples left.. it sure is getting exciting in here!
Next up is campus ‘showman’ Ed Lewis-Smith (we now know who he is) dancing the Tango with Sarah Cook
20.18
Judges Comments:
Mr Flynn notes that Tim didn’t “keep it cl” this time round – it was hot!
Sarah says it was very entertaining and very good!
Scores in:
9
9
8
9
That’s a total of 35, pushing them to the top of the leader board!
20.16
CY here with the analysis.. everything’s shaking. lots of shimmy’s. Nice rhythm, definitely got that. Tim’s been practicing lots and it shows, the dance looks efficient and polished. Good chemistry between the two as well, always good to see that!
20.15
Tim & Harriet, now dancing the Samba. YCD fans may remember the tension between Harriet and her partner last year, Mr Henry Foy.. let’s see what happens this time!
20.14
Tim admits it’s been quite tough. He’s struggled to get it all smooth and connected. Rumour has it Harriet has Tim whipped!
20.13
Tim describes the samba as “fast”, “teasy” and “sexy”. Apparently Tim’s hips don’t lie either!
20.12
Next up is YUSU President Tim Ngwena in his bright yellow suit.
20.12
Ollie says it was “fine”. There were “a few fumbles” and he doesn’t “know what to say”.
At least they both had fun. Ollie intends to walk around in his boxers, progress to shorts and then head back into community
20.11
Joel complains there were a few mistakes and foot falls. It wasn’t synchronized (boos all round). They do have personality though!
Sarah says the crowd loved them
Points are in:

A total of 26!
20.10
The crowd are heading off the chain!
20.10
and a delightful lift to end with there!
20.09
Chris Young with the analysis here. Nice and smooth moves from Ollie. Looks like he’s wearing red rugby socks – had to be a bit zany in there somewhere.
20.08
Ollie admits that he’s pushed Sarah to the “limit of her sanity”, he admits the competition is “very fierce”
20.06
Steve looks relaxed and happy – he thinks it went well.
Next up is Ollie Hutchings and Sarah Naylor dancing the Quick Step
20.05
Judges scores:
8
8
7
9
Total of 32 points, top of the table with Gruff Jones!
20.04
A massive cheer and a standing ovation for Steve and Rosie. Judges criticisms are being treated with boos!
20.03
and we are LOVING this. Steve can shimmy like there’s not tomorrow. Wolf whistles from the cloud and they’re clapping along. He can escort me out of a club any time (Chris Young)!
20.02
It’s Behind the Dance’s own Jim Bulley and Chris Young up now, taking you through the rest of the night. A massive cheer for Mr Miller, dancing the Cha Cha tonight.
20.01
Rosie Portas and Steve Miller are up next – Miller’s the dancers favourite after todays rehearsal
Miller admits that he needed a “little more practice” and he’s “very nervous”. Look out for his shimmying – it’s to die for!
19.58
Jane is just taking her clothes off…her words not ours….
19.56
Judge’s comments:
“Good contact” “a little tense” “really really good posture” and “an excellent job”
Scores:
7
7
6
7
27 points there. A little low, I’d say
19.54
Great posture and footwork so far from this couple. Another tear-jerker to dance along to, too
19.52
Zoe Stones up next dancing the Waltz. Some chat from backstage:
Stones, with clammy hands, says: “I really liked Emily’s. She just went for it. Bloody good! We’re going to do well”
We’re looking for something “slow and graceful” on stage in a few minutes.
19.50
“Passionate, but timing was out” – the overriding message from the judges.
Scores:

26 in total then. Third place so far.
19.49
Such tight trousers! Such well-placed undershorts! Such chemistry! Such a good try, as their mothers will say. Nice dress.
19.47
If you aren’t at YCD I bet you wish you were, there’s more nipples on show than a topless St.Tropez beach….
19.46
Anna Bucks up next with a YUMba Rumba. Did you see what they did there?
They are apparently both “very very scared”, and Anna has remarked “If he drops me this time, I’ll twist his nipple.” ouch
Tom Flynn, however, has just whispered to us that it’s “smouldering”. So let’s see…
19.44
7
7
7
8
WOOP for Rose – 29 points puts them just behind Gryff.
We think they were the best so far. 10 10 10 10 from Ho-Jo and Foy
19.43
Judges reckon that was “beautiful”. Flynn says he likes the “swirly-whirlyness”. Ahem
19.42
We don’t really understand the comment, but we’re happy for the audience participation. Thank you, one viewer.
19.42
Tom flynn is clapping and the audience are “whooping”, you know, like on Jerry Springer… more top marks from Nouse, go Jason!
19.41
He’s had a haircut. Scrubs up well, to be honest. This is awfully romantic too – is Mr Cornock watching?
19.40
Jason “Charisma” Rose reckons that this “isn’t his career”. Nope. Student Politics FOREVER is far too tempting for Mr Meetings.
19.38
Lovely Tess daly has once again made a reporting boo boo, asking our contestants how they felt about “coming second”. To be fair, only two couples have gone so far. Doh! Jason Rose now, sadly not in the fetching thunderbirds style outfit he sported for YUSU elections…
19.37
“It’s been hard and she’s got through” – Richard Barker on Emily Scott. Get yourself a drink, son.
19.37
Richard looks a little like Draco Malfoy as they await judges points. 32 best on the board so far for Gryff.
Points for Emily Scott:
5
6
6
7
Oh dear Tom Flynn. Got that wrong. 24 points in total.
19.35
“It’s a tricky dance,” starts Judge Joel… Uh, oh, bit of a drubbing here…
19.35
awaiting scores from the judges…
19.33
Little and large up now. Emily Scott and Richard Barker dancing the Paso Doble. Let’s cast our mind back to Tom Scott’s awful rendition last year. Fingers crossed for Scotty….
19.32
Emily is apparently “going to be sick” because she’s so nervous…on in a couple of seconds lets hope for the sake of the front row she doesn’t turn into a “chundermonkey”….mops at the ready
19.31
Our lovely hostess just asked Abi “are you pleased with the choreography?” she replied “I didn’t do it”…bahaha she got TOLD…
19.30
Gruff is cool as a (small) cucumber, a zuchinni perhaps, backstage…
“Hard to go out first, but I think Joel was right, a few shaky bits from nerves.”
The score to beat.
19.29
Scores from the judges…

8
A very strong start! 32 points.
19.28
Whooooaaaaaaaa…… and what a great start with Yorks favorite petite couple dancing up a storm…a very good swoopy lift thing at the end…full marks from Nouse!
19.24
Luke just called me Harriet…that’s not my name you know…it’s Charlotte. Just so you all know. I have more names too…I might release them later in the blog, just to keep you all on your toes…
19.21
Tim definitely wins the award for best male outfit, while Anna Buck’s teatowel effort is surely the most daring of the female dresses. And now to meet the judges.
These are the ones that can ACTUALLY dance…
19.20
Emily Sargeant, what a stunner, could she be Miss.York 2009?
19.20
Ollie looking very Dappa, Tim looking very…yellow?!
19.20
OMG its gryff!!! and the others of course….. Anna’s dress IS quite small, cheeky minx…
19.19
Luke Malkin and his Tess are on stage now working the crowd. “Nice to see you…” Oh and thank god, the crowd responds. Now here come the contestants…
19.18
Cringey opening credits there, and the crowd are cheering for their favourite couple. BIG cheer for LGBTI rep Peter…
19.16
So, who would you all vote for for Miss.York? Any of tonight’s contestants? I’m going for Grenville personally, Henry just suggested Charlie Leyland….OMG is starting!
19.16
Who do you all reckon is going to win then? Anyone want to start a bet? Henry thinks Tim and Harriet are on it like Sonic…but only because Harriet is such a smooth mover…eurgh creepy…. I’m gunning for dwarfy Gruff personally… Henry has also just added that “gunning” was a good word because Gryff has “big guns”…perhaps that is why, ladies and gentlemen, he is Mr.York
19.13
Sam McCormick is here, Tom Flynn is on stage, any other former YCDancing contestants in the audience? Tension building. Only a few minutes until kickoff, and apparently the BO backstage is overwhelming. One thing is for sure, judges Joel and Sarah aren’t going to be nervous. Having said that, they’ve watched this motley crew learn over the past 6 weeks, so I guess they know what’s coming…
19.09
More racy news now…if you manage to wrangle your way backstage you might be lucky enough to see a sneak peek of Ed’s nipples, our reporter Chris just did, and he’s just gone back for more…
Tim is also “nervous about the samba roll”…hmmmm sounds tasty, anyone else hungry?!
19.07
Chris Young (some say he looks like one of the Beatles/a stripper policeman, what do you think audience? comments below…) with more news from backstage…
Steve has just said “Bring it, this shit just got real”…what a badass…
Gruff says “I don’t think I’m gonna win”…awwww
Oli meanwhile is talking about interpretive dance…keep your eyes peeled for some Napoleon Dynamite style action coming your way…
19.04
Central Hall looks about 40% full, which is a bit disappointing really. I’m sure it’s because everyone stayed at home to read the blog instead. Alas…
Big highlights look set to be: Will Anna’s boobs stay in her dress? Will Lewis’ trousers stay on? Will Jane Grenville have a job in the morning? Stay tuned.
19.02
P.s. Harriet is eating a banana and Tim is wearing a banana colored outfit…a match made in heaven? we think so…
19.01
Charlotte and Henry blogging now…
so, news from backstage…. with 5 minutes till kick off our contestants look nervous. Charlotte’s favorite sports dwarf extraordinaire Gryff Jones will be taking to the floor first with the American Smooth… at the moment he’s currently pacing around like a trapped tiger asking if anyone’s seen his Blackberry…maybe he was hoping to check his progress on our delightful little blog, we don’t know…
In other news, someone has lost their shoes, but no-one can work out who… are they yours? Have you lost your shoes? If so, please don’t leave them on the stage and confuse our poor nervous contestants…
18.57
Ngwena is apparently wearing an awful yellow suit and Gryff is “not as good as we all thought”. Bad news then for the favorites. Emily Scott has apparently fake tanned heavily for the event, also.
18.55
So – apparently Emily Scott needs to “loosen up”, Bretts needs to tighten his trousers, Jason Rose is “a bit flat”, Zoe Stones needs to “smile more”, Anna Bucks is “wearing a liability – short and loose” and Steve Miller is “quite good at shaking his chest”.
18.53
A few special features for all you online viewers; voting will open on the YUSU website (www.yusu.org/vote) between 9:00 and 9:40 for the coveted title of ‘York
Come Dancing Online Champions 2009′. Feel free to vote. We will also be taking all your observations, queries and comments here at blog central – email us on yorkcomedancing@nouse.co.uk
18.49
Online viewers could be in for a treat tonight – apparently Lewis Bretts’ trousers fell down in this afternoons dress rehearsal. It could be a full moon tonight!
18.48
Apparently, Peter Warner-Medley and Steve Miller are the dancer’s favorites, with campus picks Tim Ngwena and Gryff Jones looking a little nervous on the stage. Ed Lewis-Smith, we hear, got the highest score from the judges this afternoon too…. Could this be more open than some have predicted?
18.46
So an anonymous Celebrity cornered me this evening after the dress rehearsal with some juicy gossip, and some insider predictions.
18.43
Central Hall is filling up and we’ve had the first casualty of the night. PVC for Students Jane Grenville has lost one of her red gloves since the dress rehearsal, and the frantic search is on. Some gossip from that dress rehearsal coming up soon…
Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to York Come Dancing 2009, live from Central Hall. Jim Bulley and myself will be providing the words to begin with, and we’re expecting some crack reporters and some star bloggers to join us as the event progresses. Stay with us for all the action, with minute-by-minute coverage of all the moves, groves, trips and falls of what is set to be one of the best nights of the year.
JASON ROSE, stop talking!
I’m not sure your plug-in’s working…
Stream not working at all here
(
the thing: jane grenville
We just want oli, who cares about the rest?! Boo them!
lovely blogging, wish I was there, Steve ‘the killer’ Miller to win
PS Danyl is out of the X factor, I know you’re all wondering
ELS – best person ever
stream not working? – It’s because we’re at full capacity & a bit more!
streams still at max capacity – sorry if you can’t get to us… but thanks for watching.
we are going to have an interval soon, but will be back pretty quick.
great view up here in balcony
hi nouse. whats the view like on stage? wave! (im the spot to your right)
do the 5,6,7,8
Jane Grenville is an absolute LEGEND
The live stream has gone down and I’m six hundred miles away, somebody fix this!
Injustice. Miller should have won. He brought the fun to Yark Cums Dancing 09/010.
£1,300 is epic – well done to everyone for an outstanding total!
Why did the Nouse bloggers have to be on stage?
We don’t know to be honest. That’s where we were put. Only place with power apparently.
Great competition this year.
Best thing about tonight’s online coverage? At 20.02 when Jim Bulley and Chris Young took over. At least they weren’t yawning on stage like Henry and Charlotte. How embarrassing for Nouse.
@judgety judge – I saw that too!
@Arrgh. you’ll be able to watch some online if and when ystv put it up.
In Nouse’s defence, they have been having quite a busy few days!
Thanks for coming to the event guys
And sorry for calling you Harriet, Charlotte- didn’t realise I did that at all haha.
Just a few minor criticisms:
1) Nouse: learn to spell and punctuate correctly please!
2) Nouse: stop being so egotistical and critical in your writing
3)YCD: next year get a presenter who is a) engaging and b) can actually count!
4)YCD: I wish the scores were held up for the duration of the score-giving
5) YCD: how about a good ‘Tess’ next time? How did you manage to find someone so vacuous??
Hahaha… What a ridiculous comment. Luke was an absolutely amazing host, Tess wasn’t remotely vacuous and won through a large-scale audition process. How about applying for the roles yourself or avoid criticising people without any real cause?
“Ollie intends to walk around in his boxers, progress to shorts and then head back into community”
I think you mean “and then eventually recline with some nudity”?
What an absolute load of rubbish ‘A Pendant.’ Firstly, that someone could be hypocritical enough to write ‘stop being so egotistical and critical’ and then proceed to criticise a show that raised over £1,200 for Charity! Not to mention that someone who complains ‘learn to spell and punctuate properly’ (presumably assuming that they are, themselves, flawless) and then goes on to complain that the scores weren’t held up for long enough probably isn’t as bright as they evidently think they are.
Additionally, there is a certain irony in slating the presenters who had the balls to stand up there in front of shedloads of people whilst you don’t have the courage to present your actual name. I’d like to see how well you would do with winging it for almost 3 hours in front of Central Hall, and to call someone vacuous who you evidently don’t know is both ‘egotistical’ and ‘critical’ in the extreme. Don’t know if you were in the hall but I was and I thought they (and particularly ‘Tess’ at times) did a hell of a job holding the thing together, it’s hardly their fault that things like the counting went wrong, and if you noticed, her name wasn’t even in the programme!
In short, congratulations on a storming achievement from YCD, maybe it could have been more polished, but that’s hardly the fault of the presenters or Nouse for that matter. And they did raise a hell of a lot of money. I really enjoyed it and wish I could Tango like Ed! As for you ‘A Pendant,’ to coin a phrase, you are about as useful as an appendix.
Lol…served!
(P.S you stole that from BBC Sport!)
What an awesome night, congratulations to everyone who was involved, with special thanks to YSTV, Luke Malkin and Matt Cornock- couldn’t have been done without you!
Mike, I’m very well aware of the £1298 raised for RAG as I am heavily involved in the committee and also helped out on the night. YCD was an excellent fundraiser and very entertaining night, however there were flaws that somebody needed to have the guts to point out as lots of people were talking about it. I’ll give you an example: whenever Luke counted the scores incorrectly everybody looked at each other with blank faces (well, those who are capable of simple arithmetic, yes). Perhaps the reason you didn’t notice this was because you belong in the group of the aforementioned numskulls. Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the judges comments/score-giving an integral and important part of the show and also contributes to who wins too? I think you’ll find the answer is ‘yes’. I believe then it is apt for the audience to want somebody who is not only engaging, but also has a firm grasp of the basics of how to count!

P.S It ain’t difficult to spell ‘chihuahua’!
Amen to Mike Allen.
Fionna, as i’ve said before I thought you were perfect both on the night and through the rehearsal process. I’m thrilled that you were involved and you were a pleasure to work with, as well as everyone else in the cast. Apologies for any miscounts I made, you’ll be happy to know that I had a backstage safeguard to write it all down.
Well, I’ll be sure to prostrate myself before the altar dedicated to your strength of character after you had the ‘guts’ to be an anonymous critic, that really is admirable, I have to concede that you are the voice of the people. It’s particularly admirable coming from someone who claims to be heavily involved in the RAG committee, it’s obvious another sign of your immense fortitude that you prefer to spend time criticising a group who’ve raised over a thousand pounds rather than being positive about the whole endeavour.
When you say ‘every time’ you mean…maybe three times? Evidently the judges’ scores are fairly fundamental, but Luke’s counting is not, give the guy a break! If you weren’t so busy trying to elevate pedantry into an artform (yes, I take an Arts degree too) you’d have realised (as my ‘numskull’ friends did) that he made a simple error and was bound to correct himself within a moment or two (which he did, in general). As it happens, I was engaged by him, but then I wasn’t distracted by trying to take myself or the show, too seriously.
P.S Cheers for the support Jesus, you ain’t too bad yourself!
And yes, I realise there is the odd spelling error in that previous comment, and you know what? It doesn’t bother me, bet it really irritates you though, doesn’t it?
I enjoyed the show immensely. Will it be available to watch again online through YSTV or Matt Cornock (who, by the way did a superb and professional job) on YouTube?
You won’t find any criticism of Luke or Fionna here either. Both were outstanding hosts.
I’m still amused that the pedant called themselves “pendant”
Yes, I noticed a couple of dubious counting moments but it’s not like he had organised a massive event, presented it and had every single detail to sort out at the same time as the ‘counting’ which is apparently really important… I <3 Luke
It was a deliberately satirical mistake. Congratulations for spotting it! I’m glad someone reading this has a brain…
Happy YCD Guest: Glad you enjoyed the show – as far as I know YCD won’t be on YouTube (there’s a 10 minute limit for YouTube uploads) but it will be on YSTV’s website some time within the next week for all to enjoy
Cheers Chris – I look forward to re-living the action!
Yes ‘a pendant’ we believe you…millions wouldn’t, but we do…
