The Island provides support for vulnerable children and young people aged 8-13 in the York area who are at risk of social and institutional exclusion. The Island recruits volunteer mentors, many from the studentship at York, who form a partnership with a child. Every week the mentees and mentors meet for 2-4 hours and participate in positive activities in order to help the child get their lives back on track.
