Rumours of Ziggy’s Closure ‘Untrue’

Rumours circulating on social networking website Facebook that one of York’s most popular nightclubs, ‘Ziggy’s’ is closing are untrue.
The rumours, which started appearing on Tuesday afternoon, claimed that the nightclub as it is currently known had been shut down, but would be back under new management as ‘The Hub’ in the coming academic year, meaning entry fees on a Wednesday, and full refurbishment to the club’s interior. Some rumours even went so far as to suggest that the club would not return at all.
However, Ziggy’s is not going anywhere. In an interview this morning, the club revealed that ‘The Hub’ is simply the name of their new dance night, which will be hosted on Fridays and Saturdays. The night is intended to give local DJs the chance to get some exposure to the student market. A Ziggy’s employee confirmed that the dance nights would cost money to enter, but said that it was ‘too early’ to say exactly how much.
“We haven’t closed down, and we aren’t under new management. Everything is the same”
The club’s legendary Wednesday student nights will be unaffected by the change, and will continue to offer free entry next year.
