Fascinating read, good work!

I'd recommend "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time" for a first-person perspective on living with autism: it's a murder mystery novel like no other, a true story and emotional journey.

So I’m not the only one who sees pictures, shapes and patterns. I have always been very visual, no wonder at times it's like my mind over processes and combust into darkness, switches off....!

This individual is amazing and I am not trying to compare, but many of us on the autism spectrum think similar to him, with me I us to also when younger be able to do large calculations easily then my education sort of stopped and I closed down, no one understood me, at times its like I know the answers but can not communicate them the way I should.

And I Cannot help but feel if more Autistic youngest were given more of a chance, earlier on in life they would benefit this planet, I just feel so much talent is wasted, and that far to often autistic children are bullied into conforming and then spend there adult years trying to recover... Aspergers Parallel Planet where I share my journey...

I was born autistic and had epileptic fits until I was 13 which then went away. I struggled in life really bad and despite having 2 university degrees I only got menial jobs and even those were hard to keep because people reacted to me like I was strange and I was either bullied or rejected or fired. I'm very good at some things but struggle a lot with working in large groups. When I was 7 months pregnant, on 20th of April 2006 I slipped on wet supermarket floor, fell and hit my head really hard. After that my epilepsy returned with a vengeance and my usually placid nature changed to short-tempered and impatient, I had debilitating panic attacks, sick headaches, had trouble sleeping more than 3 hours a day and became suicidal. But I had enormous pull towards making art and I still can't stop. I don't know if my art is any good but I just can't stop making more. I mostly give it away because I run out of room to store it. Sometimes, I sell it to benefit autism charities. It's not what I wanted to do in life, I wanted to be a writer. But if I don't paint of draw every day I start feeling physically sick and have to produce something or I feel like I'm going mad. Drawing is the only thing that calms me and helps me survive.

As an autistic myself, please can we avoid the phrase "suffering with/from autism" and variants thereupon that are used throughout this otherwise well written article? Being autistic isn't something that makes you "suffer" it just means that your mind works in a different way to that of most people which, in itself, is neither good nor bad.
