Claudia hunt becomes murder case as £10,000 reward offered

The search for missing University chef Claudia Lawrence has been upgraded to a murder case by North Yorkshire Police.
Lawrence was last seen by colleagues at the Roger Kirk Centre, where she worked as a chef, on Wednesday, March 18. Police say they have not found any proof that the 35-year-old is dead.
The news comes this morning at the same time as an announcement of a £10,000 reward that has been put forward by Crimestoppers in an attempt to encourage people to help the police in their enquiries.
The reward is an unusual move as there is not yet any evidence of an actual crime having taken place. Dave Hunter, regional Crimestoppers manager for the North-East stated that “it is such a big issue and the public have been captivated by the case.” He added that Crimestoppers hope the incentive will generate specific information to help the inquiries.
The police investigation has now searched over 270 properties and 1000 student rooms, as well as taking over 900 phone calls and 868 statements and reports. The hunt is now the biggest search North Yorkshire Police have conducted since the search for multiple killer Mark Hobson in 2004.
Police have spent the last few days carrying out another fingerprint search of Miss Lawrence’s route to work, and will continue with their search.
