A gaggle of girls descend upon the auditorium, screaming in pitches only heard by dogs: this was an interesting introduction to campus’ very own strip show, otherwise known as ‘The Full Monty’. Nude number one, adorned in a silver thong and camply displaying his rather satisfying body certainly attracted my attention, and I was surprised to find that it did not waver throughout the entire show. I soon became one of the cheering girls, relishing every spin, twirl and twist of the dynamic dance moves performed by the cast of males. However, director, Sarah Waite’s excellent choice of gentleman was not the only thing that I found satisfying; the acting was outstanding. Where the solo voices sometimes failed on reaching the upper register of notes, the performance made up for it, as each and every actor I saw on stage entertained and enthused me. When there were chorus numbers, the singing hit the right note, the male voices resonated throughout Central Hall with strength and sex appeal.
The show’s leading men, Dave and Jerry (Ollie Tilney and Michael Slater) were a entertaining comedic duo, who performed well in every scene. The female roles also delivered nothing short of a top quality act, with entertaining dance routines, and strong acting skills. Yet the most brilliant act of all was by the new campus heartthrob, Dami Tanimowo in the character of Horse. Talent spotted for his fierce dancing abilities at a friend’s party, Tanimowo sent the audience into stitches as he slickly danced and sang his way to success. The strapping “big black man” whipped off his shirt and trousers to reveal a body which made me wonder if I was standing in a Greek amphitheatre, and Adonis was in front of me. Girls, I recommend the show.
A choice cast, and clever direction made ‘The Full Monty’ a great night of entertainment, where one laughs, cries, and most certainly cheers for a tremendous spectacle.
My final words on the evening? Giddy up Horse.

i Loved it !!
