York success at Guardian Media Awards
The University of York’s media outlets have picked up five awards at this year’s Guardian Student Media Awards.
Nouse walked away with three awards, Vision took home two, and The Yorker, although shortlisted, missed out this year.
Nouse was runner-up in the Best Newspaper category, and Nouse.co.uk was runner-up in the Best Website category. Felix, of Imperial College London, and Cherwell.org from Oxford won those respective categories.
Former Muse Editor Nicky Woolf won the award for Best Features Writer, which includes work experience on the national newspaper.
Former Vision Editor Adam Thorn was awarded runner-up in the Reporter of the Year category, while another former Vision Editor, Alex Richman, was runner-up in the Sports Writing category.
Jenny O’Mahony, Nouse Comment Editor, and Tom Sheldrick and Anna Wormleighton from Vision were also nominated for individual awards. The Yorker were nominated for Best Website.
The awards, held in London on Wednesday evening, were hosted by T4 presenter Rick Edwards, with Guardian Editor Alan Rusbridger opening the ceremony.
