I just saw the argument here about the article being out of date. Firstly, there is a copy of this article that was uploaded in May (apparently) so it wasn't too out of date. Secondly, by the 'contest being too close to call' you could simply read it as referring to the whole presidential election (and indeed that was what I intended, although it's maybe not very clear.

Thanks Dr Z!

Rest assured that it hasn't caused me "significant inconvenience", I was simply making the valid point (as has Dr.Z) that it is out of date. Why put something on the web that is out of date? At least you've admitted to your 'oversight' I guess

Geoff,

Nouse always tries to upload the print edition within the first two days of being published. Unfortunately in this case an oversight was made, and the article was uploaded at a later date. I hope this hasn't brought significant inconvenience to yourself.

Thanks again,

Web Ed.

um...and also, surely, the other advantage is that you've got a nice, easily accessible archive....what's the problem exactly Geoff?

I never thought i'd see the day when i'd admit 50 cent made sense! And talking about politics as well!

I'm just interested now in what Obama explicitly stands for, besides the fact that he isn't George Bush or Clinton.

The race issue is a bit of a red herring, i'm not sure many americans will vote for a man with damaging policies purely because he is white or black. I'd like to see some more specific coverage of policies in the media.

It seems lots of these musicians have supported him because he's the most different to bush, or as the article suggests, 'youth and optimism'. These qualities will only get you so far. McCain on the other hand has experience, and more importantly policies (and he's also not Bush).

I wish we in Britain had a similar choice between two good candidates with political distance inbetween them. Even in the rigid 2 party system, americans have genuine choice, and a genuine opportunity for change no matter which man wins.

Contrast this with labour spin and tory spin, cameron nicking brown's policies and the battle for the 'centre' ground, our choice as an electorate is pathetic in comparison.

Of course it does, yes. So if it was intended for the May edition of Nouse, why put it online now? Online articles are meant to be fresh and up-to-date, not several weeks old. That's the advantage that online holds over print - immediacy.

The out of date statement which you refer to Geoff is due to the article being originally written for the May edition of Nouse.

Thanks for your commment,
