Threat of violence at Derwent block party

A recent halls party in Derwent D block was marred by the threat of violence after two students came close to fighting, with one brandishing a bottle as a weapon. The incident occured in the early hours of Sunday, May 18 when students began to regroup outside the building after requests by porters to keep noise levels down. One individual, fuelled by alcohol and resentment, returned to the building to seek out a student whom he felt had insulted a friend. The would-be fight was stopped by fellow party-goers who intervened to prevent the stand-off escalating into violence. Some students also reported food thefts from their kitchens.
