surely the proposed takeover of Langwith by YUSU *has* to be fully supported by students:

1) a bit of competition for the campus bars has to be welcome
2) the bar doesn't have to make that big a profit, it just has to break even to be worth YUSU's while running it FOR students
3)with the right drinks pricing/promotions. I would imagine that if prices were set at say, £1.20/pint and all spirits £1/measure, thus niftily undercutting the Uni bars and town by quite an amount, this would be enough to make it pretty busy on tuesdays, wednesdays and thursdays... and i would think that it would be pretty busy on certain weekends too if YUSU or the college JCRs put on live music, bar quizzes, and bigger campus events.

surely the only reason students wouldnt be behind the plan is if then the other college bars then wouldn't be used so much... and Vanbrugh, Derwent or Goodricke might be closed in the long run (pretty unlikely though)... or, if YUSU turns the takeover into a financial disaster... (i hope that I am correct in thinking that this is unlikely...)
