Students involved in Topshop protest

A national anti-Topshop campaign has seen York students staging protests in the city centre to raise awarness about ethical trading. Part of a larger initiative organised by the People and Planet society, students dressed up as sweatshop workers and protested peacefully outside of York’s Coppergate branch of Topshop. However, they were removed from the shop by security after entering the store and engaing the manager. “We want to call on shoppers to use their consumer power and lobby Phillip Green to sign up to the Ethical Trading Initiative,” said York People and Planet secretary, Rebecca Harris.
