Battle of the Bands - Heat 2
Magic P and the Innuendos stormed to victory in the second heat of Battle of the Bands, rounding off an excellent night of music with a top quality performance that got the crowd moving. All manner of instruments were implemented to produce folk music more varied than anything else on the night. Despite playing together in one form or another for almost two years now, the band only took its current shape in the previous week, making such a polished performance all the more remarkable.
Hung (aka Damocles) were the second band to progress to the semi finals, their heavier rock sound and aggression catching the attention of everyone from the moment they launched into a cover of Audioslave’s ‘Cochise’. Despite some self-admitted tuning issues, the second years were very impressive, and will be looking to progress further in week six. All three other bands also made their mark, with Mississippi Pink Water unfortunate to get the first slot in front of a small crowd, their vocal harmonies unnoticed by many as a result. Kilele followed with a very tight performance, showcasing good versatility, and Phi completed the line up, again impressing with an Incubus-style progressive metal sound. All in all, heat two was a superb night of music.
