Former YUSU President James Alexander has been elected to York City Council, winning in Holgate ward as a Labour candidate. Alexander beat the incumbent Liberal Democrat with a majority of 113. Alexander was YUSU President 2004-2005 and was commonly referred to as â€śthe Badgerâ€ť.
