Compared to what? Middle-class parents using their income and knowledge of how to play the system gained from education to groom their children for university through coaching, doing anything to get them into the best schools, and supporting them whilst they’re at students, whilst the oiks struggle to get the grades at school, and then to support themselves whilst at uni, only to invariably end up with a lower grade degree?

Why should a genetically more intelligent child born in poverty be condemned by their environment to have less than the chinless brainless brats of the middle class who see university as an economic right (of passage), rather than an educational privilege?

Of course, you’ll never get rid of that, it’s human evolutionary neurobiology to look after your interests.

Redistribution will inevitably be resented by brats who face having “northern peasants stealing their uni places”.

Perhaps the fairest one (or rather equally unfairest) would be a national lottery for free university places!

(Assuming of course, the super-rich don’t bribe the administration of such a system!)

Frankly, it’s about time middle-class student shut up about tuition fees, British degrees is about as cheap as it gets anywhere in the world.

I, as a peasant, don’t object to having huge, cheap, almost fake debt (because you can easily evade ever having to pay it by holding down low paid jobs) to pay off later for the benefits it offers.
Why not the spoilt brats? They seem to think we should thank them for going to uni! The deluded fops!
