It was great, discounted drinks for all players, great table, didnt win (top prize was £60 tonight even though there were only 12 players). Full nights entertainment for only £5 + drinks. I have found that the atmosphere varies so much depending upon the time of day, and the time of week. Daytime is nice and quiet and they serve one of the best pints of tim taylors that I have had in a long while, although the range of real ale is not as large as the likes of the ackhorne around the corner. Tuesday nights are usualy packed with people dressed in black for the rock night with a rather loud DJ, not my cup of tea but it is generaly busy for that night. I prefer the atmosphere on a weekend when it is one of the only bars in the area with sky sports and one of the best big screens around, the clientel is generaly older. They also have the best gadgets that I have seen in a long time with small TV's built into the beer pumps, stops the half time rush for the bar. Given a little more time to build up its reputation which is rapidly improving I think this could be one of the busiest bars on micklegate.
