No room at the Inn
Well isn’t this one a turn out for the books? Brilliant new rooms will be ready for a few lucky freshers when they arrive this Autumn they promise. You won’t have seen anything like them before they say. The Ritz holds nothing on us they insist.
What’s the catch? It would appear your rooms are ready, but the roofs aren’t. Instead the hapless fresher is to be flung into temporary accommodation on the handy, and oddly completed, conference guest hotel. The facilities are amazing, showers, trouser presses and everything you could desire. But don’t, not even for a second, think about touching anything. Don’t cook, don’t drink and don’t make a mess. In a week conference guests are moving in and they spend far more money than you, so try not to get comfortable.
It would seem not a thought is spared for the fact that freshers aren’t placed with the people they’ll be spending their first year with. Nor to the possibility that they might actually want to have fun in their first week. It’s not their fault that the building project is hopelessly behind, but believe me they’ll be painfully aware of it as they battle their nerves to try and make friends and juggle their luggage.
