Sporting highlights of 2004/05

November 2004
24 Hours of Sport

Ex-AU President Stuart Leslie and current President Nik Engineer complete a marathon 24 sports in 24 hours for charity. The sports they participated in ranged from Trampolining to Horse-Riding and Chess. The event raised over £600 for the British Heart Foundation.

February 2005
First Ever Varsity

York University and York St John hosted the first ever one-day Varsity event. The two rival institutes competed in sports such as Rugby, Football and Badminton with York University runniung out comfortably victorious. The event was a decent success and will be held again in 2006.

May 2005
York Win Roses

The Roses were clawed back from Lancaster University by York on a cold, wet weekend in May, by a score of 159.5-91.5. Both the Cricket and Badminton teams put in excellent performances and the Red Rose are left with it all to do upon York’s trip back to Lancashire this spring.

June 2005
Langwith Victorious

Langwith won their first ever college sport title as they fought off late challenges from Goodricke and Derwent. After taking an emphatic lead in the Autumn term and consolidating in the Winter, Langwith were left hanging on after a tough Summer spell.
