What will make students vote in the election?
Iraq and the economy will influence student voters more than tuition fees when voting in the next general election, a recent poll has revealed, writes Ruth Evans.
Only 20 per cent of students said they would be influenced by tuition fees, compared to 25 per cent who considered Iraq or the economy to be the most important factors, or 15 per cent who would be swayed by the state of public services.
The poll of 1,000 students, revealed that 31 per cent of undergraduates would vote Liberal Democrat, 28 per cent Labour and 16 per cent Conservative. This presents a stark forecast for continued apathy on issues which the NUS currently stand for.
