Football aid for tsunami

A FUNDRAISING event to raise money for the tsunami victims in South-East Asia took place in the form of a six-a-side football tournament on Sunday afternoon, on the JLD astroturf.

Organised by finalists Paul Smith and Duncan Roth, the tournament helped to raise money by charging an entry fee of £2.50 for every player in the 24 teams that took part.

As a result it was hoped that the event could raise around £400 although the exact figure has yet to be confirmed.

All the money raised will go straight to the Disasters and Emergency Committee (DEC), the coordinator of the British donations that go to helping the relief effort.
