Here’s to you Phil Jeffs

Bandanna wearing lynchpin of the York music scene, Phil Jeffs, deserved special mention as he played in three of the five bands to make it through to the final, including winners Bugalee. The second year James College student entered the competition as a member of six bands in total.

“Some really good bands didn’t get through the heats,” said Jeffs on the eve of the final, “and I’m not bothered about winning, I’m just happy to be playing.” and play he did, in Bugalee, Scateasian and the Broken Tooth Project.

Jeffs turned his hand to an impressive array of genres throughout the competition, ranging from ska to folk pop but is probably best known for his trademark bandanna atop a shock of bright blonde hair.
