If this is the first review of Intacto that you have seen, then don’t read another one! Not because I’m so vain I think that mine is the best you will ever read. I say it because I’m not going to tell you anything…
This may seem a little ridiculous, but believe me there is a danger in knowing too much with this film. Your cluelessness will be a blessing. Not being in on Intacto’s many secrets is only a danger to the film’s characters.
Intacto is a complex Spanish thriller. Which means you will have to pay attention and that it is a little odd and passionate in places. But more than anything else you need to be thrilled, you need to be lead hesitantly into the dark, with no confidence and assurance. I certainly think that I could have withstood the slow pace at the beginning better if I hadn’t had a clue what the film was meant to be about.
Intacto is not an easy ride, you’ll probably be leftstill trying to figure it out once you’ve left the cinema. This film suffers from trying to be too clever too quickly, a bit more explanation may have made the final scene clearer and left me feeling I’d seen a beautifully crafted film.
If this was a life changing film it would be worth the headache. It isn’t. The sad thing is it comes so close to being something really special and fails to get there. However, Leonardo Sbaraglia (pictured below) is rather luscious and there are some beautifully shot scenes.
Blindfold yourself now and trust your luck to get yourself to the cinema safely and watch this film for full dramatic effect. ¿Te sientes suerto?
